The difference between carbon steel casting and stainless steel casting
Most companies use stainless steel castings and largeCarbon steel castingComponents. Although they look the same, they are more or less different. What are the different properties of stainless steel and carbon steel casting?
Steel castings.
1. The carbon elements of stainless steel and carbon steel are different: in order to maintain corrosion resistance, the carbon content of stainless steel itself is relatively low, and the carbon content will not exceed 1.2%. However, the mechanical properties of carbon steel depend on its carbon content. Under normal circumstances, steel castings and foundries will not add a large amount of steel containing other elements, and the carbon content of carbon steel is less than 2%.
2. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel and carbon steel is also different: as mentioned above, because carbon steel contains less alloying elements, the corrosion resistance will be much weaker, while stainless steel contains more chromium and nickel. Therefore, it has strong corrosion resistance.
3. The magnetic properties of stainless steel and carbon steel are different: stainless steel will not be attracted by magnets under normal circumstances due to its low iron content, while the surface of carbon steel is magnetic and can be directly attracted by magnets.
4. The colors of stainless steel and carbon steel are also different: carbon steel contains more carbon and iron alloys, and less other metal elements, so the main color of the appearance is the color of iron, but it is darker; but stainless steel contains a lot of chromium and nickel, So the surface is basically bright silver.
5. The alloying elements of stainless steel and carbon steel are different: the above also said that stainless steel contains more alloying elements, carbon steel contains less alloying elements, and there are other different elements, such as sulfur, silicon, phosphorus, and manganese. , But the content of these elements is not much, but relatively small.
6. The lines of stainless steel and carbon steel are different; because carbon steel mainly contains a lot of iron, the material itself still has the essence of iron, and the surface is not smooth; stainless steel contains many other metal elements, so the surface is very smooth. Generally casting, not processing.
