What is the difference between carbon steel casting and stainless steel casting?

The difference between carbon steel casting and stainless steel casting:

1. The relative densities of carbon steel and stainless steel are different: the relative density of carbon steel is slightly higher than that of ferrite and martensitic stainless steel, and slightly lower than that of austenitic stainless steel.

2. The resistors of carbon steel and stainless steel are different: the resistance increases in order of carbon steel, ferritic type, martensitic type and austenitic stainless steel.

3. The thermal expansion coefficients of carbon steel and stainless steel are different: the order of thermal expansion coefficients is also similar, with austenitic stainless steel being larger and carbon steel being smaller.

4. The magnetism of carbon steel castings is different from that of some stainless steels: carbon steel, ferrite and martensitic stainless steel are magnetic, while austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic, but it may cause damage when cold work hardening transforms into martensite. Magnetism, quenching and tempering can be used to remove this martensitic structure and restore its non-magnetism.
