How Lost Wax Casting Works

lost wax castingAfter wrapping the wax mold with refractory gypsum, put the glass raw material and the empty mold into the furnace for heating at the same time. The glass slowly flows into the mold for high-temperature molding. It is put into the melting furnace for dewaxing. After cooling, the gypsum mold is taken out and then ground and planed.

According to Western history, glass was invented starting in ancient Rome. It is colorless, tinted, transparent, translucent or opaque and can be used for painting, etching, polishing, cutting, leading, tinting, melting, bending or carving like jewelry. The difficult method is lost-wax casting, a complex and expensive technique. This technique was used as early as ancient Egypt and was later rediscovered by the French sculptor Henri Croce. In 1884, he tried to use powdered glass to burn this Technology. In 1923, he confirmed the evolution and creation of lost-wax casting for Tutankhamun's tomb. Currently, this technology has been greatly promoted in Europe, such as Lalique and Duma. Engraved molds have been developed for hundreds of years. It can only be used once, and each wax pattern is made one by one. The wax pattern is then separated with steam, and then made into crystal glass of various colors. The workpiece can be separated from the mold after cooling, but subsequent processing is more delicate and complicated.
