What is dewaxing casting
Lost wax castingAfter the wax mold is wrapped with refractory gypsum, the glass raw material and the empty mold are heated in the furnace at the same time. The glass is slowly poured into the mold to form at a high temperature, and then placed in the melting furnace for dewaxing. After cooling, the plaster mold is taken out, and then ground and planed.
According to Western history, glass was invented from ancient Rome. It is colorless, colored, transparent, translucent or opaque, and can be used for painting, etching, polishing, cutting, inlaying, coloring, melting, bending or carving like jewelry. The difficult method is dewaxing casting, which is a complicated and expensive technique. This technique was used in ancient Egypt and was later rediscovered by the French sculptor Henry Cross. In 1884, he tried to burn this technique with powdered glass. In 1923, he confirmed the evolution and creation of the dewaxing casting of Tutankhamun's tomb. At present, this technology has been widely promoted in Europe, such as Lalique and Duma, which have been developed for hundreds of years. The carving mold can only be used once, and each wax mold is one by one. Then use steam to separate the wax mold, and then make crystal glass of various colors. The workpiece can be separated from the mold after cooling, but the subsequent processing is more delicate and complicated.
