Will casting cracks occur during the precision casting process?

Casting cracks may occur during the investment casting process.

Casting cracks are a common defect in the precision casting process. They are caused by many reasons, such as: unreasonable casting structure, unreasonable design of the pouring and riser system, the use of inclined pouring methods, etc. Cracks are often related to shrinkage, slag inclusion and other defects. They mostly occur inside the sharp corners of castings, at the junction of thick and thin sections, and in the hot joint area where the pouring riser and the casting are connected. Prevention and treatment methods are:

1. Pay attention to the craftsmanship of the casting structure, make the uneven wall thickness of the casting evenly transition, and use appropriate fillet size.

2. Adjust the coating thickness to ensure that each part of the casting reaches the required cooling rate to avoid excessive internal stress.

3. Pay attention to the working temperature of the metal mold, adjust the slope of the mold, pull out the core and crack in time, and take out the casting to cool slowly.
